PassLoose Stones
Where: On any road, especially on gravel roads, newly surfaced roads, or areas under construction or maintenance.
Purpose: To warn drivers that there are loose stones, gravel, or small rocks on the road surface ahead. Loose stones can reduce traction, affect vehicle handling, and may be thrown up by other vehicles, causing damage to windshields, paintwork, or undercarriages. The sign alerts drivers to take extra care to prevent accidents or vehicle damage.
Action Required by Driver: Reduce your speed and drive cautiously. Maintain a safe following distance from vehicles ahead, as they may kick up loose stones. Avoid sudden braking, sharp turns, or abrupt acceleration, as traction may be reduced. Be especially careful when overtaking or when encountering oncoming traffic, as stones may be thrown in your direction. Check tires for proper inflation and condition, as loose gravel can increase the risk of skidding or punctures.
